The S77 is the 2nd non folding treadmill that Sole make. It’s cheaper than the other one (TT8) and doesn’t have a light commercial warranty so it’s made purely for the home. The warranty is very good which includes 2 years and it’s in home service. Let’s look at the treadmill in detail and see if it’s worth buying in our review below.

The S77 has the latest Bluetooth technology that is one of Sole’s innovations. You can download your exercise information to their free app and other popular fitness apps recognize this data, you just need a smartphone or tablet. The deck is long and wide so even if you have a long stride you’ll be able to work out comfortably knowing that the S77 can handle you.

For runners who like to workout to a percentage of their maximum heart rate (recommended), you get a heart rate chest strap included. The treadmill reads the amount and shows you this on the console. This is extremely accurate, far more than pulse sensors and is always a good addition to your purchase. Your heart rate is always interesting to see however you plan to use the information.

The speed and incline mean runners of all fitness levels can get a workout tailored for them. The speed goes up to 12 mph and the incline 15% so power walkers can use the S77 on a steep incline. Those who do interval training can run as fast their plan allows with a generous top speed. In between these are the regular runners and joggers like me who will also enjoy the Sole S77.

Features of the Sole S77 Treadmill

+ Whisper Deck – The deck is cushioned so it is less than 40% as hard on the joints as running outside. It’s also made to be whisper quiet, if you want to listen to music or watch TV as you workout, you’ll be able to hear it thanks to the deck. All it needs is some regular, simple maintenance and will stay that way.

+ Indestructible Frame – Sole call it their bullet proof frame. They make all their treadmills with an epoxy powder coated paint for durability which is baked to appliance finish. So the S77 will keep looking good no matter how long you have it. The construction is all steel and is welded and not bolted for even more stability and it will stand the test of time.

+ Motor Has a Flywheel – The powerful 4.0 CHP motor has a flywheel and not all treadmill manufacturers include this, but it provides a few key benefits. The motor will run cooler so it’s less likely to heat up and burn out and it draws less amp, these two things extend the life of the motor. The flywheel is heavy so your run is smooth and stable like it is in the gym.

+ Safety Built In – There are a surprising amount of accidents taken to ER due to treadmills every year. The S77 has features to ensure you’re not one of them. In a addition to the stop button there is a cable you can attach to yourself while using the treadmill, if you fall off or brake the connection in some way the machine will stop. There is a textured belt to help your feet stay on it and a slow starting speed reduces any mistakes.

+ Graphical Display – It is 10.1″ so it’s a clear and detailed summary of what you’re doing on the treadmill. Every data point is there for you to see including 1/4 track to visually see your progress. There’s a peak and valley graph so those inclines are visually shown and you can see what hills you’ve got to face. More information is always better.

+ 10 Workout Programs – You get a good variety and they are designed for different goals in mind. A fat burn workout as the name suggests get’s you losing weight by burning calories. The interval choice can be custom made to allow you to run on the program for a certain amount of time. This way runners of all abilities will find the S77 treadmill useful to them.

+ Sturdy Treadmill – Rather like the other Sole non folding treadmill the S77 can take a fantastic weight on it’s deck, being 400 lbs. However, this treadmill weighs 258 lbs which is 70 lbs lighter than the TT8. This is still a heavy beast but it has to be to take that weight and it’s non folding. Of course there’s other things to look at but this review of the features gives you a good idea.

Drawbacks of the Sole S77 Treadmill

Large Footprint – I think this is always a drawback especially when you consider a non folding treadmill. These Sole machines are particularly big but that’s one of the problems you have to put up with for a good piece of equipment. The large deck is easy to run on but means the unit is long and wide. You have to decide if you have the room.

No Decline – It’s easier to put a decline in a non folding treadmill but not having one does reduce the cost. If you like training on a treadmill to prepare for races then you would use the decline to replicate the race course. You won’t be doing that on this S77 so if it’s a deal breaker consider the Sole TT8 which does have a decline.

Sole S77 Treadmill Review Summary

The Sole S77 is the cheaper brother of the TT8. Sole have made 2 non folding treadmills because there is the demand. This one is around $800 cheaper but doesn’t have a decline and is lighter. Other than that they are very similar. I would always prefer non folding given the choice because there is less to go wrong and less to maintain.

This S77 fits a perfect niche in the Sole range. It’s a quality non folding treadmill that perfectly matches what they have in their folding line up. As you can see by the review above there aren’t really any drawbacks that make me change my mind about it. If I had to choose one of Sole’s treadmills, it would be this if I couldn’t afford the TT8. I believe the S77 is a good machine that deserves a second look.
