The Sole F65 is a step up from the F63 and it improves on many of it’s features. Everything has had a little adjustment, you get that little bit more in every way. As you go to each better Sole treadmill you get even more reasons to choose one over the other. Here in this review I’ll look at this F65 and how it could be the ideal machine in your home.

Some of these improvements make a big difference like the wider deck. It is 2″ better than the F63 giving a total of 22″. This is a good width and will give you confidence as you exercise knowing that a bigger deck provides more stability as you go. The motor is bigger as well being 3.25 CHP and a bigger motor always helps if the treadmill gets a lot of use.

The display is larger by an inch which is good but it is still an LCD rather than a touchscreen often seen in gyms but they’re pricey. For an in home treadmill at an attractive price it’s not too much to forego, the exercise experience is the main thing. The unit is more sturdy with an increased 350 lbs maximum weight capacity making the F65 a vital improvement for weight loss.

The surprising aspect is the dimensions are the same apart from 2″ gained on the width and obviously the bigger deck is where this comes from. So the F65 is really the better brother of the F63 and only $300 more. Everything else is the same and the changes that we’ve noted before are good ones. They make a definite improvement.

Features of the Sole F65 Treadmill

+ Custom Programs – This and other Sole treadmills allow you to create custom programs. With these you change the settings as you go by selecting a change in incline or speed. This means the program is made by you. This is useful if you’re training for a race so you can replicate the course. Or you just may want to challenge yourself and see how you progress on the program you’ve made.

+ Bluetooth Technology – Even treadmills have now gone well into the 21st century. You can connect your smart phone to the F65 via Bluetooth and download workout data. Sole have created an app that you can use for free to monitor your progress as you exercise over time. The data can also be used by other popular fitness apps like the Record, Apple Health, Mapmyrun and Fitbit.

+ Good Display Screen – For the money the display screen is good and gives you all the information you need. As you exercise there is a 1/4 mile track shown. This helps you see how you’re doing and how long you have to go. You get the usual heart rate, speed, distance, calories and more. You have everything you need to see how your workout is going.

+ Unique Message Board – Sole have created a feature that gives you advice and information as you need it. This message board forms part of the display and if ever you need help with any aspect of the treadmill then the messages will help you. It gives you details about all the workouts programs to help guide you through and summarize the workout when you’ve finished.

+ Better Rollers – Rollers are important parts of a treadmill. The belt revolves around them and some are plastic which don’t last. Sole uses bigger rollers which extends their life because they do less turns than others, this also helps the belt as there’s more contact with the surface area. They use sealed bearings and copper wire instead of plastic which helps give a smooth motion as you run.

+ Quality Belt – The belt is what we exercise on so they have to be well made. They are the contact we have with the machine so they must be able to stand the test of time. The belt on the F65 has been made with this in mind. It has a middle PVC layer to stop the belt stretching further than it should. Two rubber layers are there to help it last, and nylon is the outer part of the belt. As you can see a lot of thought goes into the belt.

+ Warranty – The warranty is the same as the F63. You have lifetime on the frame and motor and the parts, electronics and deck have 3 years with 1 year of labor. This is good at this price range and you have to go up to the F80 to get better, and the only improvement is 5 years parts with everything else the same. Compared to other manufacturers Sole has a good warranty.

Drawbacks of the Sole F65 Treadmill

Short Handrails – This is the same for all Sole treadmills. The handrail is just not long enough. Should you want to stable yourself or jump off for any reason you have to reach forward for the handrail. This is something needed in a treadmill but sadly hasn’t been thought of. You will get used to the reach but the handrail should have been longer in the first place.

Treadmills Are Heavy – They are very heavy but some customers don’t allow for this. A few advise that it takes 2 to 3 people to take the unit up stairs and to move it. Be aware of this when you have it delivered. Unfortunately better treadmills are heavier as they use metal components rather than plastic. This Sole F65 weighs 262 lbs.

Sole F65 Treadmill Review Summary

I would choose the Sole F65 over the F63. I think you should always go for the best model you can. Sole are a good manufacturer so you won’t be disappointed which ever one you choose. There are a range of Sole treadmills and each have their own advantages. The F65 is still a very good treadmill for the price and will serve you well.

If you’re looking at walking and jogging then the F65 delivers. For running it’s good too but if you’re close to an elite athlete then you know you probably need more power. For the rest of us this treadmill will work just fine. It has enough workout programs to keep you occupied and has the build to make it last. The Sole F65 gets 4 stars as it’s a great quality piece of equipment for the home.
